Day 8: Words of Wisdom

Day 8: A piece of advice you have for others

One piece of advice I have for everyone reading this blog is to think about it before owning a pet-
GETTING A DOG IS A LOT OF WORK!

Clark sort of fell into my life. We found him at a gas station and once I had spent money on him, he became my dog. In the past two months, I have had several sleepless nights (he's a bed hog), multiple items of clothing destroyed (he likes to explore in my closet), picked up after Clark in more ways than one (potty training is not so much fun), and been to the dog park a lot (burning off some of the puppy energy).

He is a handful. If he wasn't so cute, I would have returned him a long time ago (although I'm not sure where I'd return him to).  I wouldn't have my life any other way and I love having him in my life. But if you are thinking about adding an animal into your life, realize that it will be life changing, require a lot of time, and there is another living thing that relies on you constantly.

(Starting from the top left going clockwise- Clark exhausted after a 2.5 mile run; Clark in his bow tie; Clark's way of waking his mom (me) at sunrise; Clark watching Million Dollar listing dreaming about our future home)

I love this. So many people think getting a pet will be easy peasy and it's just not! Boxers are kind of a popular dog to have, but so many end up taking them to the pound or something because they don't have the time and energy to devote to such an active dog. Breaks my heart! People definitely need to research before choosing a pet that will work best with their family/schedules/lives!

Oh do I know what you mean. My dog is a lot of work. Then I got a cat... and oh how simple they are in comparison. Your dogs are so cute!!

I agree! They definitely are a lot of work, but definitely so worth it :-) He sure is a cutie-pa-tootie!
