The end of 13

Hey there blog! It's been a while since we've connected and believe me when I say, I do think about you at least a few times a week. But life has been busy. And I have had ZERO motivation to blog about it. Every time I do something fun, I think "Oh, that will make a great blog post!" And then, I never blog about it. I do enjoy reading everyone's blogs though. I think I just needed a break from it all. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and like I wasn't keeping up with everyone else out there in blog world. And like I didn't have anything good to say. It's not a fun place to be. But enough of the pity party... I'm moving on to 2014.

And since it's the last day of the month, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to recap my year. It has been an interesting one for sure. Since I'm at work and don't have access to my pictures, those are going to have to wait. But I wanted to get this post in before tonight's celebrations begin.

January- I was living with the parents and rang in the New Year at a friends house. I also accomplished a huge goal of mine and ran the Houston Aramco Half Marathon. All 13.1 miles of it were exhausting but fun.

February- Still living with the parents. Working, going on many bad dates, and just enjoying life. I went to Dallas one weekend for a sorority event. And to the Rodeo a few times.

March- Still living with the parents. My first year ever without a Spring Break. It was kind of sad seeing everyone post about their awesome vacations while I was at work. But I am thankful I was employed so I guess that's all that matters. I also got Clark at the beginning on March. He was a huge blessing in disguise.

April and May- Still living with the parents. I honestly don't remember what happened in these months. I think they just flew by. I believe I blogged everyday in May though. HUGE accomplishment I'd say considering I haven't blogged since October.

June- Still living with the parents. It got really hot in Houston. I started dating a guy but that didn't last long. I went to San Antonio for Margarita Fest 2013 (not an actual event- we just made that up).

July- Still living with the parents. I went to Chicago for a friend's wedding. It was 70 degrees in the middle of July. Not fair at all.

August and September- I spent a lot of time with Delta Zeta getting ready for recruitment. Moved out of the parental's house and into a townhome with my old roommate.

October- Went to a Law School Halloween party. Realized I'm too old to be going to parties like that. Also went to New Orleans to run another half marathon. It was miserable. 80 degrees and I pretty much thought I was going to die the whole way.

November- My 33rd birthday. It was uneventful this year. I wasn't into celebrating at all. I've kind of been in a funk since then.

December- The month came and went. Christmas was fun and I got lots of good gifts and enjoyed a few days off.

And now that the year is over, I'm not sure I'm ready for the next year. I know it's coming and I have no choice though. This past year was not really hard for any particular reason but it was just hard if that makes any sense. I'm not doing what I want to be doing with work. But I have no idea what I want to be doing. I'm exhausted from dating and trying to find the "one." Is he really out there? I'm beginning to think he might not be. I have great friends and a wonderful family but I'm just not quite where I want to be.

So for 2014, I'm going to work really hard on getting to where I want to be. I have a list of things I want to accomplish but I'm going to keep it to myself and just check it off as it happens.

I hope everyone out there has a wonderful New Years and safely celebrates! See you all in 2014!

Wedding fun!

I feel like I should celebrate that this is my 200th post! I've had this blog since 2009 and while I realize 200 posts in 4 years isn't a lot, it feels like a lot to me. So cheers to the 200th post!

Ok now, moving on...

As mentioned in my last post, I went to a wedding last weekend. My good friend from law school, Lauren, married a wonderful guy, Sam, who she had been dating since college. It was at Camp Lucy in Dripping Springs near Austin. We stayed in Austin and took charter buses out to the country aka. wedding location. It was a fabulous wedding despite the fact that the buses arrived at 6pm when the wedding was supposed to start. Luckily, it was raining and so the outdoor ceremony was delayed. The clouds broke for about 15 mins to let the ceremony go on and then the rain started back up. It pretty much poured the entire night and I thought our bus was going to go off the road at some points on the way home (but that could have been the beer talking). Overall, a great wedding and fun times were had by all.

Here are some pictures to document the wonderful wedding of Lauren and Sam-
The groom and his grandma-
The bride and her dad-
And they are married
Quickest ceremony ever

Mallory traveled all the way from Maryland for the wedding
I miss her dearly :(

One of my favorite songs ever
This describes us perfectly
Roommates for life
On the bus after the wedding
We had a lot of wine to drink
And no wedding is complete without a party favor
Koozies are my favorite.

Friday Five

I guess it's time I stopped ignoring this blog and actual document what's been going on. Now that September has come and gone, I am not AS busy as I was and can devote a few days a week to catching up on blogging. A LOT has been going on lately. I guess I'll get back into the swing of things by linking up with some fellow bloggers for the "Friday Five" or "Five on Friday"

1. This cute little guy is finally adjusting to living in the new place (yes, I moved out of the parental's house and into my own place with a roommate but that's for another blog post). He is sleeping through the night again (thank you to the sleep gods). He does go to Grandma and Grandpa's house a few days a week while I'm at work so I don't feel so bad crating him on the other days. And (knock on wood) has not had any accidents in the house this week. I'm so blessed to have this guy in my life. I really think that he found me and picked me to be his mom for a reason. It's because of him I have to slow down a little and not overbook myself which has been a relief after the first couple of crazy September weeks.

2. I'm buying a new planner. Mine is almost done and it's time. Plus, I'm on a rodeo committee (anyone out there want tickets to the Rodeo's big Wine event or want to buy a $600 case of win???? Let me know!) and I'm joining the Junior League. I went to my first Junior League meeting and boy oh boy, those women are organized. They already have meetings planned in 2015. Hence, me needing a new calendar. So I'm going to pay the $50 for an Erin Condren Life planner. Never heard of them, click HERE. But I'm warning you. Only click if you want to be suckered into spending $50 on a planner. I'm seriously obsessed. Anyways, I need some help picking out which cover to get. Anyone out there have any opinions on these two-

3. Last weekend I went to a wedding in Austin (actually Dripping Springs to be exact). I went with my roommate and another friend and we stayed with her parents in Georgetown on Friday night. We left her pup with her parents so on Sunday we had to go back to pick up the pup. We decided to stop at Roundrock Donuts. I guess this place was featured on a Food Network show and has been a huge hit since. I'm not a huge donut fan but I decided to give it a go. And OMG! These were some yummy donuts. No, I did not eat all 6 donuts. I actually only at 1 glazed and part of the blueberry one and part of the applesauce one. I gave the rest to my parents as a thank you for watching the cute pup in #1. I will definitely be going back soon.

4. My office is moving next week. While I work for a hospital, we are currently located off-site. Well, they are moving us back to the hospital. Not looking forward to it. I have to pay for parking, am going from an office to a cubicle, and can't wear jeans to work. There are 2 bonuses though- it's only 5 mins from my house and I can go to every cafeteria in the medical center in search of my doctor husband :) Anyways, the whole office is now a sea of green bins. My entire office will be fitting into 4 of these bins. Kinda sad that I don't have much more. I guess I'm a minimalist at work.

5. I have an exciting weekend planned! Greek Fest tonight and a birthday celebration tomorrow night. I'll also be running 9 miles tomorrow as my final long run before my next half marathon next weekend. Heading to New Orleans for the Jazz Half Marathon (unless a tropical storm decides to squash my plans).

It's Tuesday but I'm doing my Weekend Recap anyway!

Yes, I know yesterday was "technically" the day I'm supposed to do a weekend recap. But I was busy. Between work and Delta Zeta, the life is slowly but surely being sucked out of me. Sept. 16th (the day after formal recruitment) needs to come quickly!

This past weekend was supposed to be a slow one. But apparently I can't do anything slowly so somehow I managed to fill it to the brim.

Between a Friday night concert in Clear Lake, a Saturday trip to Stephen F. Austin State Univ., and Clark's doggie school on Sunday, I feel like I traveled a lot.

The weekend in pictures-
Jason Boland and some country dancing.
Fabulous Friday with my friend Jen.
Saturday trip SFA to help the DZ chapter there prepare for rush.
The inside of their house.
It was interesting. And that is all I can say about it.

And Clark got a Halloween outfit.
It's fitting considering his name....

A Day in the Country

The weekend after July 4th, I ventured out to the burbs (The Woodlands to be exact) to spend "A Day in the Country." One of the local radio stations sponsors this country music fest each year and my friend Jen and I decided to go see what it was all about this year. There were 6 bands that played- Eli Young Band, Chris Janson, Easton Corbin, Brett Eldredge, Joe Nichols, Aaron Lewis, and Charlie Worsham. All the bands were great but my fav was The Eli Young Band. I've become a fan of country over the last year and I really love Texas country. So glad my friend Jen is always game to go see a band!

I can now die a happy woman

So way back at the end of June, I experience probably one of the best nights of my life so far. I FINALLY got to see my all-time favorite childhood band- New Kids on the Block. I went with 7 of my closest friends and we danced and sang our hearts out all night. While the critic's reviews were mixed, I thought they were fabulous. And to top things off, we bought the cheap, nose bleed seats but got upgraded to the 2nd row. We were soooo close. It was AMAZING!

But I'll let the pictures do the talking. WARNING- Be prepared for a picture overload.

The top one is the cheap seat.
The bottom one is our upgraded seat.
NOTE: ROW 2!!!!

The concert started with Boys II Men.
We missed most of their songs though because dinner took forever.

And then came 98 Degress.
I have to say that while their hotness is still there,
I was disappointed in the act. It wasn't all the great.

Nick Lachey is still nice to look at though.

And finally came the big act.
NKOTB.
They played for 1 1/2 hours.

 And then this happened.
I could have touched him.
But I didn't want to seem like one of those crazy girls.

And the obligatory group shot.
