Christmas Celebration at Houston's First Baptist

Before I left for Christmas Break, I went to see a Christmas Program at Houston's First Baptist Church. This church is HUGE and the "chapel" holds about 3,000 people. The program was really good and really got me in the spirit of Christmas. Here are a few pictures I took during the program-
They had a real live elephant in the program. It was so cool!

Christmas Tree

This year, Kourntey and I managed to get up a small Christmas tree despite being consumed with finals. It was nice to have a little bit of Christmas in the apartment even though we were busy studying!

Free Christmas Cards??? Yes, Please!

I saw this opportunity on another blog and decided to do this. You get 50 free Christmas Cards from Shutterfly! I love Shutterfly and the products they have. I have used them for many different things, including making bound books when I was a teacher. They also have great Thank You cards, which you can find here-www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/thank-you-cards. They also have cute Address labels, which can be found here- http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/address-labels

This year, I love some of their Christmas Card Designs.
Here are some of my favorites-

And how about this New Years Card?!?!

In fact, you might get one of these cards from me in the mail! Unfortunately, registration has closed for the free cards but if you get cards at any time of the year, Shutterfly is the way to go!

The End of October!

I have had a great past two weekends! They were filled with some much needed rest and fun (which I won't be having much of in the next few months- the benefits of working retail during the holidays and being in school with finals looming). On Friday night, Oct. 22, 2 of my friends and I hosted a birthday dinner/game night for another friend of ours. I made Chicken Tetrazzini and Pumpkin Dessert Squares. Both were a hit! I am sometimes amazed at my domestic skills :) We also played Apples to Apples, which is by far my favorite game to play and Partini. I'm really good at Apple to Apples and usually win or come close to winning!

The past 2 Saturdays and one Sunday, I worked at Williams Sonoma. It's getting to the busy time of the year with the holidays approaching so going to work is more fun because we are busy! I also love the smell of the store when they are cooking all the holiday goodies that come with Thanksgiving and Christmas.

On Sunday, Oct. 24, I went to a Pumpkin Carving Party. I love carving pumpkins! We had a contest and my pumpkin won the "Best Pumpkin" contest. My roommate also carved a baby pumpkin. She loves pirates so her pumpkin is pirate themed! It was a great way to spend a Sunday!

On Oct. 29th, we had our Law School Halloween Party. It was a great event (even if I sat outside the party for 2 hours checking people in and selling tickets). I was Minnie Mouse for Halloween. I'm not a huge fan of dressing up but I think my costume looked pretty good and most importantly, it was comfortable! The leggings that I added to the costume were a must for several reasons- covered up and warm (it was in the 40s that night)!

Here are some pictures of my exciting weekends~

Kourtney and my finished pumpkins. We left them outside a few to many days and they ended up rotting and making a huge mess. Its the lovely Houston Humidity!
On our way to the Halloween Party- Yes, that's my roommate. No, she's not really pregnant. She was a Pregnant 16 year old (from the show 16 and Pregnant on MTV)
Minnie Mouse ready to go!
The Mad Hatter and Minnie Mouse (aka Tim and Catherine- the party planners)

And on a side note- my Mom is here visiting my dad, my brother, and I. She's going to be here until after my birthday (Nov. 11th). I'm so excited to have her in Houston for a few weeks and am looking forward to spending some quality time with my family all together. And we are going to the Nutcracker Market next Friday. So excited! here is a picture of what I'm in for!

The New Apartment!

At the end of September, I moved out of my dad's apartment and into an apartment with a friend I go to school with. I loved living with my dad and brother but it was getting a little cramped having 3 people in a 1 bedroom apartment. In fact, a few days before I moved, I just about lost it on them because they are boys and messy and I just couldn't take it anymore!

I love the new apartment! It is big and really nice and the location is fantastic. It is so close to everything. I miss seeing my dad and brother everyday though but spending 45 min-1 hour commuting to and from school was getting a little old.

Anyways, here are a few pictures. My room is still a work in progress. I'm so busy (see the last post) that its hard to find time to organize. And ignore the boxes- those need to be taken to my storage unit that I use for my overflow of stuff :)

The view from our balcony. Downtown Houston is on the other side of the trees so when the leaves fall off, we should have a great night time view of the city.
There is also another bedroom and bathroom which are my roommates. I love living here so far and hopefully this will continue to be a great home for the next year!

Ebay Addiction!

I love having garage sales and selling my old stuff to make a little extra money. Well, last spring, I had a garage sale and when it was all over with, I had a lot of clothing left over. Apparently, at one point in my life, I loved to shop and bought tons of clothes (and none of them fit me now). Now, I c=don't love shopping because I have no money. Anyways, I sifted through them and donated a few boxes but I also saved about 8 bins full of clothing with the intention of selling it on ebay. These were nice things with expensive labels so I just didn't want to donate them. Summer then came and went and I hadn't gotten around to listing even one thing!

A few weeks ago, I decided it was time to list some of the stuff. Being a poor law school student, I'm always looking for ways to make a few extra $$$ so selling my stuff seemed like a good idea. I spent a couple of hours listing about 20 items and low and behold, some of them sold!!!! So then I decided to list a few more and a few of those sold too!!! I was so excited to get rid of the clothes and make some money. The yucky part is that ebay takes a percentage and then paypal does also but I'm still making money!

Now, I've become slightly addicted to selling my stuff. I spent 4 hours yesterday taking pictures, writing descriptions, and listing my stuff. But, I think it is paying off because today, I sold 3 pairs of jeans for $61. They were Abercrombie and Fitch jeans that I know I paid way more for (probably $60 for one pair) but they had been sitting in a bin for at least a year so I think I got a good deal. So far, I've sold 9 items and made $150. And this week, I will sell another 5 items and make more $$$. I still have about 4 more bins of stuff to list and hopefully sell.

And because I'm sitting in class all day and have internet access all the time, I check my listing rather obsessively so I need to work on that. But I love selling things and get an adrenaline rush doing it while also making my buyers proud owners of my nice stuff!

So the moral of the story is that people will buy just about anything you put on ebay. Even this lovely number that I wore one year for Halloween- someone paid $26 for this fabulous outfit :)

This blog has been neglected long enough!

It's been a while since I posted on my blog but I have a very good reason. I've been busy with the 5 million things I have going on at school (Ok, maybe not 5 million but it seems like it). But, I have taken some pictures to document my fun.

Labor Day weekend I went to Chicago to spend time with my mom. It was a great trip and the weather was fantastic. Much better than the Houston 100 degree weather. Anyways, we went to an Apple Orchard and went apple picking one day. It was the first time I've ever been apple picking and it was actually a fun time. We also ate yummy apple doughnuts.

I also went to my first UH football game since I was in undergrad. UH won the game against UTEP- 54 to 24. Unfortunately, our quarterback was injured last week when UH played UCLA and is out for the season so we'll see how the rest of the season goes for the Coogs.

And finally, this guy had a little too much fun at the football game. We found him taking a nap on a bench. Hope he made it home ok!

Only 1 week left in Spain!

I can't believe that I've been in Spain for 3 1/2 weeks. The time has gone by so quickly and I'm really sad to be leaving in a week. I'm definitely going to save my pennies so I can come back. I've blogged about most of my weekend trips but hardly anything I've done in Spain so here are a few pictures of my adventures in Madrid!
