Today I am missing this....

My classroom, the kids, the crazy parents, the people I worked with, the comfort it all brought. I'm missing it all- today. It was home for 3 years. I loved it. Not every minute of it but I loved it. Life was so much simpler. I knew where I was going. I was good at my job. I had a plan. My life was pretty complete.

It's been 2 1/2 years since I left teaching and I haven't had many days where I REALLY miss it. But today is one of those days. Not sure why though. Maybe it's because I'm super stressed about school. Maybe its because the boy who I thought was boy wonder isn't so wonder. Maybe its because I'm one semester away from graduating and for the first time in my life, I have no plan after that. Life is complicated right now. I know its complicated for a reason but for whatever reason, I can't figure it out. It's a scary feeling.

So... I'm missing this.

Halloween 2011

Happy Halloween!!!! This year was an awesome Halloween. I was in charge of organizing the Halloween Party for the Law School. We had over 450 people there (which was way more than expected) and it was a little stressful but overall, I think everything turned out well. I dressed up as Pippi Longstocking. This was the easiest and most comfortable costume I've had in a long time! And my hair was fantastic!!!

Thought of the day...

Marjorie Pay Hinckley - “I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived.”

Go Coogs!

I've been to one UH football game this year. UH is pretty good this year and I think they are ranked in the Top 25 and were just invited to join the Big East Conference (not sure what that means but apparently, it is good). It's fun to go to the games because I went to undergrad at UH and the games are a lot different now then they were back in the day.

The one picture I took that actually turned out well (and this was before we even went to the game)...

Vegas!!!!

I am so behind on blogging but I'm going to try to be better. I want to remember all the fun things I did my last year of law school!!!

Over Labor Day weekend, I went to Las Vegas with about 12 other people that I know from school. It was a blast! We stayed at Harrahs and went to 2 different shows- Love (The Beatles Cirque du Soleil show) and PeepShow. Both of them were fantastic! We ate at some really great places and overall, just had fun hanging out! I love all the casinos and the buildings. It is like a fantasy world when you go there and you can pretend like nothing in the real world exists! I can't wait to go back again (although my bank account can definitely wait- everything costs a fortune there).

Pictures to document that I was there...
The last picture I took there. I was exhausted~
chocolate filled donuts- delicious!

Child Support 101

Today was my first day going to court for my job at the Attorney General's Office in the Child Support Division. It was AWESOME! The AG's office is in charge of enforcing child support orders. I saw the most interesting people in court. Everyone had a story, some more entertaining than others. And watching the judge tell people that they would go to jail for not paying was hilarious!

MORAL OF THE STORY- PAY YOUR CHILD SUPPORT OR GO TO JAIL!

Getting my SWAAG on!

I'm in Austin for 3 days at the Assistant Attorney General Conference. I'm working for the Child Support Division for the next 6 weeks and they sent me to the conference. It's pretty cool to have the State of Texas paying for my stay. Last night, we went to a really good Mexican food restaurant. This is what I got. It was yummy!

Taste of Chicago

On July 1st, we went to the Taste of Chicago. My dad had flown in for the weekend and we were all ready to eat some yummy food and enjoy the day. The weathermen has forecasted the high to be in the upper 90s with the heat index in the 100s. In fact, even in the morning they were still predicting the same weather. Well, they were wrong! If I have learned one thing about the Chicago weathermen, they are more likely than not wrong when predicting the weather. It was actually cloudy with rain threatening all day and the high was only in the mid 80s. Perfect weather for the Taste. We tried a lot of different food and Giada de Laurentiis did a cooking demonstration. She is so tiny and cute!

We also went to Millennium Park to see the Bean and the Face fountain.
And then here are some random downtown Chicago shots. I've discovered a new app on my iPhone so a lot of them were taken with it!
