Down with July and moving on to August

WOW! July just flew by! I only blogged twice in July (which means I have a lot of things to catch up on). July was a rough month. I just felt all out of sorts and such so I am happy to welcome August into my life. Hopefully this month will be better :)

So what's been going on in my life-
4th of July fun, dating and not dating, a quick vacation to Chicago, and lots of Delta Zeta recruitment stuff.

Also, during the month of July, I decided to track my spending. I got a little note pad (see pic below) and wrote down everything that I spent. I think I might have only missed a few things where I paid in cash throughout the entire month. I wasn't really monitoring how much I spent but I wanted to see where my money was going. It always seems like it disappears so quickly. Well... let me tell you. I spend way too much money. I eat out A LOT (which I'm sure is why I need to lose a few pounds)! And those $3-$5 breakfasts or snacks add up quickly. I also had some big expenses in July. $500 fixing my car, $200 fixing my dog, a birthday party, and the 4th of July. So for August, not only am I going to track my spending, I'm going to try to limit it as well. Here are a few guidelines I'm going to follow-
  • Only eat out 2-3 times per week total (including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and my late night snacks)
  • No online shopping and only buying things that are absolutely necessary
  • Try really hard to keep Clark healthy and my car running nicely
  • No manicures/pedicures
  • Limit my alcohol consumption (it gets really pricey y'all)
We'll see how I do. Hopefully I'll spend less this month than last. Although that won't be hard to do if my car and dog stay in good shape...

And another weekend bites the dust...

It's Monday again. Which means another weekend has come and gone. This one was a little less exciting than last weekend. But I needed a more low key weekend. I've kind of been in a funk lately and been having a super hard time motivating myself to do anything. It's just been busy and stressful and a lot to do lately. So this weekend was perfect for me.

One: I had to take this little guy to the vet (again) on Friday afternoon. He's been having some major tummy issues so we got it checked out. 3 medications and $135 later, we were on our way home and hopefully on our way to feeling better. I went on a very interesting/disastrous date on Friday night. I don't want to talk about it (it was that crazy).
Two: Saturday evening I spent it with this cutie. I was babysitting for one of my best friends. I also got to see her new house in Pearland which is ginormous!
Three-Five: Sunday a groups of my friends and I "surprised" one of our friends with a birthday party at Dave and Busters. And I say "surprised" because he knew something was going on already. But its was still fun. Yummy appetizer meal, the birthday boy, and the tower of beer (we may or may not have drank 3 of these bad boys).

It was a fun weekend and I got to spend some quality time resting and relaxing. This week is going to be super busy and then next weekend is already full. I'm going to try to blog every day this week in an effort to catch up. I have several drafts saved that I need to get out there!

What did you do this weekend? Anything fun and exciting?

Weekend Shenanigans

I'm back!!!! It's been a while blog world. I've been taking a break not because I don't have anything to blog about but because I've been so busy I haven't had any blogging time! I guess that's a good thing. I have several posts that I need to finish but the pictures are on my real camera and I haven't downloaded them yet. So you get a recap of my weekend while I try to catch up. I'm linking up with this lady to give you a run down of my weekend fun!

This weekend was fabulous! It was kind of a long weekend even though I had to work on Friday. Thursday was spent celebrating America's birthday! And I did so in a big way. A group of my friends got together at what is going to be my future home for a little celebrating. I made these yummy cake pops for the occasion!

I also had a few too many of these. Texas beer is the best!
We also played some games that may or may not have
involved consuming all of those yummy beverages...
I love this girl. We were roomies for 2 years and
will be back together in about 6 weeks!
My future home has a roof top terrace.
And we could see the Houston fireworks from it.
AMAZING!
Friday I went to work (with the other 3 people in my office that didn't take off). I left right at 5, did a little bit of shopping, took the dogs to the park, and then went out with a friend to Sherlocks to see some live music.
Saturday morning began my official half-marathon training.
2.5 miles in the hot, humid weather. I made the mistake and slept in.
Running at 10am in Houston is not a good idea.
Can you saw RED FACE!
I then spent the rest of the day at A Day in the Country.
I saw Brett Eldredge, Aaron Lewis, Joe Nichols, Easton Corbin, and the Eli Young Band.
It was HOT outside but thank goodness we had real seats under the covered part of the pavilion.
I will definitely be going to this show next year. It was fun times!
Brett Eldredge
Eli Young!
I have more pictures and some video but they are on my real camera.
(maybe I'll get around to that this week)

Sunday was spent doing homework and then going out for a little Sunday Funday.
One of the guys that met up with us created this yummy refreshing beverage.
Miller lite on ice with some lemons. So yummy!

And with that, the weekend was over. I loved having Thursday off and could get used to it. Too bad it's not happening every week. This week is going to be long and busy. And I'm going to try to catch up on the blogging.

What did you do this weekend???
